How do I take the unit on and off?2026-02-06T21:10:31+00:00

Hi-Tail features a bayonet fitting, so when the bottom part of the fitting is attached to the bike, it stays on permanently. The top wand and light unit is then fitted by sliding it in and twisting to lock it into position, and it reverses when removed.

How long does it take to charge the battery?2026-02-06T21:09:47+00:00

Your Hi-Tail battery will be delivered at about 30%, the first thing you need to do is charge it; this will take about 3 hours. Charging from a fully depleted battery will take about 4 hours to fully recharge.

How long will the battery last?2026-02-06T21:08:58+00:00

In flashing mode, the battery will last about 7-8 Hours, and on the lowest of the three solid light modes, the battery will last 14 hours.

Can I fit Hi-Tail to a Cargo Bike?2026-02-06T21:08:24+00:00

Yes, you can; the same rules apply as above, with reference to the bar size you are trying to connect to.

Will it fit to an adult trike?2026-02-06T21:07:34+00:00

Yes, hi-tail will fit any horizontal bar with a diameter of 28 mm, 25 mm, or 22 mm. We can fit to bars of other diameters, but we just need to know what you need. There will be a slight delay while we make the special fitting, and there may be a slight increase in cost.

Do I need to have it at full extension, or can it be used with less units extended?2026-02-06T21:06:53+00:00

No, it doesn’t need to be at full extension to be used. You can have from one to six tubes on show, and it still works, but you will hear a rattle if not used at full extension, as it was designed to be used at full extension to allow HGVs and PSVs to see the device in their side mirrors.

Hi-tail looks like a light sabre; can it be used like one by children?2026-02-06T21:11:22+00:00

Absolutely not. Hi-Tail is a quality cycle safety device and should in no way be used as a toy.

Will it fit to my bike?2026-02-06T21:10:55+00:00

Hi-tail was designed to fit most bicycles, but the key requirement for fitting a standard bike is access to your seat post, so you must have at least 25mm of space for the connection.
